New table tennis tables available in Watford town centre
Two new outdoor table tennis tables have been installed in the Town Centre to encourage local people to take up the sport, have fun and reanimate an unused area of the town.
The new tables installed next to Watford Central Library will make table tennis more accessible and give local residents more opportunity to be active, by giving people a place to meet, relax and enjoy a quick game all for free. People are being encouraged to bring their own bats and balls to help stop the spread of Covid-19, with the council working to have equipment available nearby in the future.
Following the success of similar facilities at Oxhey Activity Park and Cassiobury Park, this project is part of the Watford Get Active initiative led by the Council to create healthier, stronger and more sustainable communities through physical activity & sport. Enabling inactive residents to increase their physical activity levels not only benefits their physical health but their mental health too.
Nick, from Nicholas Li Table Tennis Academy said: “It really doesn’t matter how experienced you are - get a paddle in hand and we promise you will have a blast. This is a fantastic opportunity for people to get together, have fun and play some table tennis! Whatever your experience, skills, abilities or background, everyone can get involved in this amazing activity.”
