Eat, drink and be merry at Watford’s Christmas ‘Market Lates’
To get the town into the festive spirit, Watford Market will be filled with the sound of Christmas carols, traders offering handmade gifts, colourful decorations adorning stalls and the aroma of mulled wine and cinnamon drifting in the air on the 3 December.
Visitors will be able to warm themselves on the winter’s evening with lashings of food and drink, alongside live entertainment from 5.30pm to 10pm. Local music acts Lizzy Hardingham, Cian Darra and Alexander Williams will be performing throughout the event, allowing people to soak up the Christmas atmosphere from under marquee covered seating and festoon lighting to help create that festival feel.
Taking inspiration from the unique traditions and favoured celebrations we all enjoy, the market will be hosting a wide variety of traders selling everything needed for a fabulous Christmas cracker of an event, from gifts and sweets to that special Christmas tipple. There will be plenty of choice - from waffles, gingerbread, mulled wine and craft beer, to the market’s popular food stalls rustling up delicacies to delight your taste buds, including Caribbean, Asian and Korean street food.
Elected Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor said: “We are really looking forward to seeing people enjoying the market’s festive cheer at our first-ever Christmas Market Lates! For many businesses, Christmas is their busiest time, so it’s really important we support them as much as we can.
“This event presents a great opportunity for people of all ages to soak up the festive atmosphere, pick up some unique Christmas gifts and enjoy a mince pie and mulled wine, whilst supporting the local businesses and traders that make these events possible. Shopping locally means money is kept in the local economy – supporting jobs and local families.”
