Watford BID reports back on its second year

Watford BID held its Annual General meeting, last night (6 June 2018) to report back to town centre businesses on all the activities the organisation had undertaken during its second year in operation.

The event, held at the new business lounge in West Herts College’s Watford campus, gave those businesses that pay an annual levy to Watford BID each year an opportunity to find out more about all the projects the BID has undertaken and to ask questions about plans for the year ahead.

Watford BID commissioned Think About it Films to create a short film to capture all of year two’s activities and produced an annual report to share with all levy payers and stakeholder organisations. Key projects included the Watford Weekender, Food & Drink Week and the Service Excellence Awards. The BID is also the operator of the Christmas lights and responsible for the floral displays installed throughout the town centre for the past two summers.

The BID also runs the popular Watford For You brand, manages the Winter in Watford marketing campaign, runs the Watford Business Against Crime radio link scheme and co-ordinates the annual application for achieving the prestigious Purple Flag status for its night time economy. In its year two it also launched a discount app for all workers in the town centre, set up a grant scheme for organisations wishing to make business improvements and supported joint initiatives to improve the look and the feel of the town, including car park improvements and hoardings and development wraps.
